The
Brief
RSP delivered a number
of action-packed sequences for the film, including the rocket
that Doctor Totenkopf has sent in to the atmosphere to destroy
the earth.
RSP had to create the interior & exterior of the chrome
rocket, and insert the heroes of the story in to the all-CG
environment in a believable and stylised manner.
In addition to the rocket interior, RSP also assisted in Sky Captain's escape from Mysterious Island, with over fifty shots in a mile-high underground cavern involving swarms of flying robots. This entire sequence was turned around in the last five weeks of the film. |

The
Creative Process
RSP concentrated on
building techniques that would allow for a fast turnaround
of shots, to allow the clients the greatest creative flexibility
within the time constraints.
This involved the development of an innovative CG pipeline
that allowed the majority of the ‘look’ to be
controlled within the comp.
The time difference and efficient use of high speed internet allowed the clients in the USA to see shots at HD on the same day that they were created at RSP.
