The
Brief
Visual Effects Supervisor Dean Wright last worked with RSP when we delivered 60 shots for the interior of Mount Doom on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Knowing we're up for a last minute dash to the finish line, Dean handed over 20 shots to RSP in the last two weeks of production, with the brief of get it done well, and get it done on time! The package consisted of day for night grades, stormy sky replacements, CG face replacements, cosmetic fix ups and CG environment extension. |

The
Creative Process
As the day for night / stormy sky replacement sequence was shot over many locations at varying times of the day this was no simple grading job. A small team of senior RSP compositors took on the work to ensure a consistency across the sequence from the get go.
Fast turnaround is our speciality! The shots requiring CG face replacement were tracked, animated, lit and composited in under two weeks, including the setup and texturing of Prince Caspian's face.
