Showreel
Tips
In our trainees we look
for talent, passion and an eye for visual effects - we don’t
expect you to have industry experience or for your work
to be perfect.
Think quality ahead of quantity.
Concentrate on the areas that you are interested in –
if your passion is modeling, show us a beautiful well worked
gray scale model rather than trying to complete it with
mediocre texture or lighting.
If you want to be an animator it’s perfectly fine
to use a pre rigged character as long as you show us that
you understand the mechanics and that you can bring personality
to what you are animating.
It is a good idea to compliment your student work by spending
some time on a personal project that shows your area of
interest, highlights your talent and makes your reel stand
out. Make us see your potential as a VFX artist.
Remember to always:
-include an easy to read shot break down which states exactly
what you did on each shot, as well as the software used
and any relevant comments regarding the shot.
Put your name, email
and phone number on your disk in case the cover is removed. |

Meet
a previous trainee
Anouchka Farrenc
Anouchka joined RSP as a trainee with the FTO's Digital FX Placement Scheme in 2007.
"Having had no previous professional experience in this industry, I felt extremely lucky and thankful to be chosen by RSP for their traineeship program. Before I started, I expected the traineeship to be more of a broad, structural 'watch and learn' experience rather than what it really was."
"From day one RSP took me in with open arms and made me feel welcome. I soon learnt that the traineeship was flexible and seemed to be catered around my interests and my skills rather than the must-do structural study program I had envisioned. And as I was very passionate about animation, I was soon sitting with the animators, doing animation exercises and rig tests with them while we waited for the first turn-overs to come through."
"Although I was a trainee, I was treated like any other animator and never made to feel beneath anyone because of my experience level. And before I knew it, I was working on my own shots with the guidance of the animation supervisor who acted as my mentor. With his help and the support of the animation team, I learnt a great deal more in those 6 months than I did in my 3 years of studying animation at college. It was an amazing experience that I'll never forget and I hope to one day work there again. "
