Pitch Black Appoints Alexandra Daunt Watney as President of Rising Sun Pictures

Pitch Black, the parent company of leading visual effects studios FOLKS, Rising Sun Pictures (RSP), and El Ranchito is proud to announce the appointment of Alexandra Daunt Watney as the new President of Rising Sun Pictures.

Alexandra brings a wealth of experience to the position, most recently serving as Co-Global Head of Production and Head of Studio, Adelaide at MPC, where she led production teams across several international locations.

Sébastien Bergeron, CEO of Pitch Black, shared his enthusiasm for the appointment: “Alexandra is a natural choice for this role, bringing over 20 years of experience in visual effects and a strong connection to the RSP brand from her previous time at the studio. As we continue to grow our global network of VFX studios, Alexandra’s expertise, combined with her understanding of the value of cross-studio collaboration and flexibility, makes her the ideal person to lead RSP into its next chapter,” he said.

Alexandra first joined RSP in 2016 as a Production Consultant before taking on the role of Production Supervisor, during which time she also acted as Senior Producer across a number of projects including Tomb Raider and Captain Marvel.

Her career began at Framestore in London, where she rose to the position of VFX Producer and worked on an impressive list of titles, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Paddington, Wrath of the Titans, Sherlock Holmes, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Golden Compass, and multiple Harry Potter films.

Reflecting on her return to RSP, Alexandra said: “I’m thrilled to be returning to work at RSP. The team and culture are deeply familiar to me, having played a significant part in forming how I work. I chose to come to RSP in 2016 because of its strong reputation in the industry. I’m delighted to be returning to lead the company at a time when the team is continuing to push the boundaries both creatively and in technological innovation.
