Study With RSP

Rising Sun Pictures (RSP) is well known for its ability to develop highly skilled visual effects artists through its unique Education program. The Education arm of RSP was created in 2012, to bridge the gap between aspiring artist and experienced workforce ready artists.

Accredited Training

RSP and the University of South Australia (UniSA) have joined together to deliver accredited courses. In classrooms set up to mirror real-world production environments and with instructors who are working professionals, the award-winning visual effects studio rigorously trains students in the technologies and techniques they’ll need to succeed in an expanding global film industry. Since the program’s inception in 2015, dozens of aspiring artists have used the studio’s undergraduate and graduate-certificate courses, as stepping-stones to their first industry jobs, many of them at RSP.

When you study VFX through UniSA you will:
  • Gain the technical and professional skills required to enter the global VFX industry.
  • Be mentored by industry leaders and professionals at RSP.
  • Develop your own demo reel shots under the guidance of RSP VFX artists.
  • Attend unique networking opportunities with RSP staff and the broader VFX community.
  • Work on feature film shots to real world deadlines in a production environment.
  • Learn from professionals and educators who are Houdini Certified Trainers.

Short Courses

Want to find out what it takes to work in the VFX industry, or brush up on your skills? Enrol in one of RSP’s Short Courses. The courses are low investment when it comes to time and cost, and are taught by instructors who are working VFX professionals. Courses are open to the general public and are often run at night. They introduce participants to skills and software required to create world-class visual effects for live-action feature film.

Evening classes run for one night a week over 8-10 weeks, depending on the course. Classes are held in RSP's training rooms. From time to time, we also run one and two-day intensive courses (run on weekends).

Courses are seasonal and dependent on production schedules and artists availability.
